Cal. 12 Ga. S# 6754. The dovetailed 27" bbls. are gold inlaid "FOR 2 INCH CASE ONLY" on matted Churchill type rib. Tops of bbls. engraved w/ Alex Martin's Exchange Street Glasgow address & "Edinburgh, Aberdeen & Sterling". Bbl. flats stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2" chambers & 7/8 oz. shot. Case hardened dbl. ogee backed boxlock action features automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action engraved w/ 80% coverage varying size scroll w/ maker's name in arch on each side. Top lever, floorplate & trigger guard are blued, engraved w/ matching scroll & have S# on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock of well marbled & lightly figured European walnut measures 14 1/4" over checkered horn buttplate. Flat top point pattern checkering is on diamond hand. A silver oval engraved "JCC" is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .730", left: .733". Restriction: right: .005" (IC), left: .018" (MOD). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .016", left: .022". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/16". DAC: 1 5/8". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 7 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes w/ what appears to be its original leather case. A russet leather rectangle on top is embossed I. E. T. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth & has Alexander Martin label in lid. A silver plaque is tacked into lid & states "PRESENTED TO" "GEORGE M. BORLAND ESQ" "BY THE" "ARCHITECT MEASURE & CONTRACTORS AT THE OPENING OF LASCALA CINEMA, CLYDEBANK" "14TH FEBRUARY, 1938". Bottom compartment contains cleaning equipment, square oil bottle marked "A. Martin" & a pair of brass A. Martin marked snap caps. CONDITION: fine. Bbls. retaining over 90% of what appears to be original blue. Action retains 70-80% case hardening color. Top lever & floorplate retain over 90% of their original charcoal blue. Blue on trigger guard is nearly all flaked w/ just traces remaining, mostly inside of bow. Stocks retain most of what appears to be an old oil refinish w/ some older marks & bumps. Checkering is somewhat worn & has not been recut. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Case is fine, straps & handle intact. Interior cloth is fine to very fine w/ some rubs & marks. Label is somewhat bent & has a rub at left. Accessories are good. (21-4040/MGM).
