The 26 3/4" demibloc bbls. are fitted w/ full length matted rib, central portion cut away forming slight 1/4 rib mounted w/ scope bases & folding leaf U-notch rear sight. A silver bead w/ flip up night bead is in front raised portion. Unmatted portion center of rib is engraved w/ maker’s name & “HOFFLEFERANT-BERLIN”. Bbl. flats & bbls. are stamped w/ pre WWI German Nitro proofs. Nicely filed, case hardened, scallop backed Blitz O/U single Kirsten action features tang safety (“S” inlaid in gold), pin cocking indicators on top & dbl. triggers (front set). Action is engraved w/ very nicely cut bursts of scroll & rose bouquets, all within scroll borders. Maker’s name & address is engraved on left side & “HOFFLEFERANT” on right. Trigger guard is of horn. Very nicely figured & marbled European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over ribbed horn buttplate. Stock features attenuated drop points, point pattern checkering, sm. shadowline right hand cheekpiece, sling loop, & cartridge trap w/ spring loaded cover which holds 4 cartridges on toeline. Trap is engraved “en suite” w/ action. Matching slim 1 piece forend has Deeley release. Combo is fitted w/ ERA type swing off 1 piece scope mount w/ 1" rings. MEASUREMENTS: SHOTGUN BBL: Bore Diameter: .662". Restriction: .029" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: .028". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/2-". DAC: 1 1/2-". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT WITHOUT MOUNT: 6 lb. 14 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black plastic case. CONDITION: good, bbls. retaining most of an old reblack, scope mounts show recent reworking. Action retains traces of original case hardening color where protected, and is mostly silver gray to brown. Trigger guard is good without noted insect damage. Stocks retain traces of their original oil finish w/ many marks & dings, checkering is considerably worn, almost smooth in places. There is a plain wood repair to front portion of left buttstock cheek adjacent to action. There is a 1/4" ding in metal on left side of action under maker’s name. Shotgun bores are bright w/ some frosting. Rifle bore is worn & dark in grooves. Action is a bit stiff. Set trigger is operable. (22-4884/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
