& HARRISS OF DUBLIN. Cal. 14 Bore. S# 6373. Nicely patterned 30" Damascus bbls. engraved w/ makers name & Dublin address on narrow top rib. Trulock & Harriss were working between 1842 & 1900 & were quite highly regarded. Breech plugs have vented platinum blow outs. Breech iron is very nicely engraved w/ shaded scroll. Lockplates are engraved w/ lg. open scroll at either end framing bird scenes under "Trulock & Harriss". Round bodied serpentine hammers are also scroll engraved. Stock of nicely figured European walnut measures 14 3/8" over engraved steel buttplate. Other furniture is of iron & trigger plate has nicely engraved fancy filed finial matching thimble. Blued trigger guard is engraved w/ dogs on bow. S# is on tang. Nicely cut flat top point pattern checkering is at grip & forend. Stock attaches to bbls. w/ usual side bolt through oval steel escutcheons. An ebony ramrod w/ brass head & tail (worm under cap) is held by 2 plain pipes. Minimum wall thickness: left - .022, right - .022. DAH: 2 3/16". DAC: 1 1/2". WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: good, as refurbished. Bbls. retain nearly all of a good quality rebrown w/ dramatic twist figure. Most other metal is cleaned to silver gray. Trigger guard has been temper blued. Stocks retain most of an old oil refinish. Checkering nicely recut. Hammers have been replaced & are loose on tumblers but match well. Bores appear to be good, lightly pitted. (01-17416/MGM98). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
