N. KENDALL OF WINDSOR, VT. Cal. 36 / 28 Ga. NSN. The 32" bbls. are fitted w/ flat matted rib marked w/ maker’s name & address within open scroll engraved area at rear of rib. Bbl. sights have been removed. Front dovetail is also flanked w/ scroll engraving. This well done engraving extends to rear portions of bbls. & breech plugs. Breech iron w/ hole for lollipop type sight is also scroll engraved. Backspring locks w/ nicely filed rnd. bodied serpentine hammers have matching scroll & are not maker marked. Trigger are dbl. set & will fire whichever hammer is cocked. If both are cocked, set trigger fires left bbl., a second pull fires right rifle bbl. Swan neck stock of crotch figured American walnut measures 13 3/4" over steel crescent buttplate w/ shaped & engraved 6" return. An island type engraved oval patchbox is on right side of stock. Left side has a rectangular gold inlay which is unmarked. There is also a vacant gold oval on top of grip & a silver shield on toeline. Steel capped hickory ramrod w/ brass tip on tail mounts through 2 plain pipes & nicely shaped & engraved thimble. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 3 3/8". DAC: 2 3/16". LOP: 13 3/4". CAST: neutral. CONDITION: fine, bbls. retaining possibly as much as 80% of what appears to be their original brown, thinning somewhat on sides & w/ scattered light marks. Locks & other furniture are mostly gray to brown patina, possibly original color of case hardening. Stock retains over 80% of its original French polish finish w/ a good scattering of light marks & scratches. Shotgun bore is good, quite shiny w/ some scattered pitting. Rifle bore is very fine w/ some light frosting. (01-21161/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
