GROUP OF 11 CIVIL WAR CAVALRY SABERS.
1) Relic Confederate cavalry saber, blade w/ unstopped fuller, iron mounted scabbard is painted “E. Cavalry Field” and Gettysburg Pa July 1st 2nd 3rd 63” CONDITION: heavy iron patina & pitting on blade & iron mounted scabbard, hilt is bent w/ deep olive/chocolate colored patina. 2) Roby saber w/ commemorative etched inscription on blade “George H Allen” “1863-1865” and “Five Forks, Cedar Creek, Appomattox Station” surrounding 2nd Regt. Mass Cav”, scabbard has unusual brass stepped throat. CONDITION: good to very good overall, grip is rewrapped, blade is gray, solid poor fitting scabbard. 3) 1864 Dated Emerson & Silver Model 1860 saber. CONDITION: very good, complete grip, gray blade w/ good markings, scabbard w/ iron patina. 4) 1863 Dated Mansfield and Lamb Model 1860 Saber. CONDITION: very good overall, gray/bright blade, solid grip missing wire. 5) 1862 Dated Providence Tool Co. Model 1860 Saber. CONDITION: good to very good overall, gray/bright blade, good grip w/ sprung wire. 6) Thomas, Griswold cavalry officer’s hilt married to 34.5" Confederate blade w/ unstopped fuller. CONDITION: good to very good as assembled, probable rewrapped oilcloth grip, blade is mostly bright & superior for a Confederate cavalry blade. Import scabbard fits poorly w/ old remnants of white paint. 7-11) 5 Other sabers, 1840 & 1860, import & American. CONDITION: fair to good overall. (02-14188/JS). $2,500-3,500.
