The accompanying Confederate & obsolete states (Alabama, Virginia) are souvenirs, circulated monies collected at the end of the of the war, which were used to determine propaganda value to the Confederacy, the study conducted by Joshua Chamberlain’s staff: 1) $10.00 Bank Commonwealth Richmond, VA S# 2344, “the adoration of Washington,” recognizing the importance of Washington (war hero, first president of a “new” country, southerner, slave owner). 2) $1.00 State of Alabama, illustrating the first capitol of the Confederacy, Montgomery, S# 9105. 3) $2.00 CSA, T-42 “South strikes down the Union,” S# 42973. 4) $20.00 CSA, T-67, w/ a picture of the capitol of Tennessee, Nashville, an example of the “federal” nature of the Confederacy, an amalgam of various states (pictured on Numerous CSA denominations & various obsolete southern states), S# 4671. 5) 10.00 CSA, T-68, “horses pulling cannon,” S# 36762. 6) 5000.00 CSA, T-64, the penultimate propaganda note, featuring deceased, hero, “Stonewall” Jackson, w/ the Confederate battle flag, S# 26108. 7) 50.00 CSA, T-16, featuring “president” Jefferson Davis, S#9390.
