GROUP OF 7 U.S. INDIAN WAR PERIOD SOCKET BAYONETS.
1) 2 - US Model 1873 Pennsylvania National Guard bayonets w/ 18" triangular blades marked on top "U.S.". Lock rings are present. Steel scabbards w/ leather frogs. Black leather frogs have loop type belt attachment. Brass disks are marked "N.G.P." indicating use by the Pennsylvania National Guard. 2) 2 - US Model 1873 18" triangular blade bayonets. Blued steel blades are marked "U.S." on top. One has additional tiny "S" marking. Locking rings are present. Blue steel scabbards w/ brown leather frogs. Brass belt hooks marked "U.S." in center. 3) 2 - US Model 1873 socket bayonets w/ 18" blades. One bayonet is blue & 1 is gray & patina. Locking rings are present. Blades are marked "U.S." on top. Blued steel scabbards w/ brown leather frogs equipped w/ belt loops. Brass disks are marked "US". Leather loops have faint arsenal markings. 4) 18" triangular blade. US Model 1862. Hewes & Phillips conversion. "T Mortise Cut." w/out lock ring. 3" socket. Blade is marked on top "U.S.". Incorrect steel scabbard w/out frog. CONDITION: bayonets range from fair to good in overall condition but some have greater amount of original blue than others w/ wear, oxidation & areas of fine pitting. Scabbards are similar in condition but may have sm. vents & generally less finish. Leather frogs have wear, scuffing & flexing. Brass parts have staining & patina.
