GROUP OF 8 MOSTLY MILITARY RIFLE STOCKS.
1) Imperial German Gewehr 98 stock. Flat metal buttplate with unmarked stock disk. Buttplate is stamped with a "6" over "R" and the serial number. CONDITION: stock shows scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. 2) German WWII K98k stock. Russian captured, refurbished, and renumbered on the left side of the butt. Right side of butt bears a faint Eagle/H Heer acceptance proof. Interior of stock is stamped "Kr 7 15 41" indicating manufacture on July 15th of 1941. Repair/replacement material is present the the rear of the receiver tang. Cupped buttplate with milled rear and front bands. CONDITION: very good as refurbished, with some scattered marks from handling and storage. metal components show wear and some mild oxidation. 3) Spanish Mauser stock with faint naval "MA" proof on right side preceding serial number, and Spanish proofs on underside of butt. Stock appears to have been lightly sanded at one time. Blued barrel band and buttplate. CONDITION: very good, with some scattered handling marks and 2 small gouges at the toe on the butt. Metal components exhibit some oxidation, but are otherwise good. 4) Japanese Type 38 rifle buttstock. Forend has been duffle cut. Buttplate is not present. CONDITION: stock shows scattered marks from handling and storage overall. 5) Unmarked M1 Garand buttstock. Buttplate is not present. CONDITION: good, with scattered marks and minor impressions from storage and handling. 6) Unmarked M1 Garand buttstock. Buttplate and nosecap/sling swivel are not present. CONDITION: stock shows scattered marks impressions and small gouges from storage and handling. 7) Unmarked Percussion/Flintlock musket stock. Wood full length stock with brass furniture and iron ramrod. Buttplate is marked "H" at the toe. CONDITION: stock exhibits scattered marks from handling and storage with what appears to be a couple of burns on the left side of the butt. Stock show scattered flecks of white paint. Brass furniture exhibits a brown patina Middle barrel band spring is broken. 8) Unmarked percussion US carbine stock. Iron buttplate is stamped "US" over "K/ 37". CONDITION: good, with scattered marks from handling and storage. Buttplate exhibits oxidation and a dark gray patina. (02-19822-4/MLW). $300-500.
