GROUP OF US MILITARY KNIVES OF WWII.

Group includes 3 booklets relating to the use & care of the LC-14B "The Woodsman's Pal" by The Victor Tool Co. & round sharpening stone.
1) 12" Blade LC-14B Woodsman's Pal. Blade marked on right side "WOODSMAN'S PAL 280". Blade marked "VICTOR TOOL & READING PA". Blade made w/ brush hook & was designed to be used as axe, machete, spade & fighting knife. Smooth steel "V" shaped knuckle & crossguard. Leather washer handle. Unmarked canvas scabbard w/ belt hook & zippered closure. CONDITION: blade has lightly oxidized appearance w/ very fine pitting throughout. Blade has been lightly sharpened. Grip has wear & handling marks. Canvas scabbard has light wear & staining. Metal parts have verdigris. Booklets are lightly worn but legible.
2) B-44 Survival Knife. 9 1/4" bowie type single edge blade. Blade marked on left ricasso "CASE XX". Cast brass crossguard ending in knobs. Black composite handle secured by 3 rivets w/ bird's head pommel. Unmarked brown leather sheath. CONDITION: blade has been lightly cleaned w/ scattered spots of oxidation, has been lightly sharpened. Leather sheath has buckle appearance at tip. Has wear, scuffing & handling marks. Stitching appears tight. Has sm. tear in throat area. Has 2 sm. slits. Brass cross guard has worn patina. Composite handle has light wear & handling marks.
3) Folding Army Air Force Machete/Survival Knife. Rounded tip w/ 10" single edge blade. Blade marked in script on left side "Cattaraugus U.S.A.". Black composite handle. Detachable black metal guard. CONDITION: metal has scattered light oxidation & fine pitting but retains shiny appearance. Composite grips have light wear, scratches & handling marks.
4) United States Army Air Force Survival Machete w/ 8 1/4" single edge square hooked tip blade w/ aluminum handle marked on left side "U.S.A.A.F.". Made in Australia. Brown leather scabbard marked w/ box "GOLDSEAL 1944 SYDNEY". Scabbard has 2 leg straps. CONDITION: blade has very light oxidation & scattered areas of very fine pitting. Scabbard has light wear & scattered handling marks throughout. Leg straps have flexing & cracking.
5) 8 3/8" Blade United States Air Force Survival Machete w/ square ended hooked tip. Unmarked cast aluminum handle. Brown leather scabbard. Leg straps are not present. Scabbard marked w/ boxed "GOLDSEAL 1944 SYDNEY". Additionally marked w/ broad arrow "JE". Scabbard has added 1/4" hole at top in marking area. Additionally has initials "EF" on front. CONDITION: blade has wear, scattered light oxidation w/ handle loose in rivets. Scabbard has light wear & staining but is in good serviceable condition.
6) U.S.M.C. Medical Corpsman's Knife. 11 1/4" Rounded tip single edge blade. Blade marked on left side "U.S.M.C". Walnut handle secured by 4 rivets. Light brown leather scabbard marked on back "U.S.M.C. BOYT 44" w/ belt hook & metal throat. CONDITION: blade has light staining & oxidation. Handle has light wear, handling marks & sm. chip at right rear. Scabbard has light wear & handling marks. Stitching is tight.
7) U.S.M.C. Medical Corpsman's Knife. 11 1/4" rounded tip single edge blade. Blade marked on left side "U.S.M.C. BRIDDELL". Light colored hardwood handle w/ 4 brass rivets. Brown leather scabbard marked on rear "U.S.M.C. BOYT 44". Has belt hook & metal throat. CONDITION: knife has light wear & scattered spots of oxidation. Handle has light wear. Scabbard has light wear & handling marks. Stitching is tight. PROVENANCE: Collection of Brian C. Pinkerton.
