GROUPING OF FOUR WWII JAPANESE TYPE 30 BAYONETS.
Bayonets all have curved quillons & are equipped w/ steel scabbards. 1) 15 9/16" fullered blade marked on right ricasso w/ interlocking circles "Kokura Arsenal". Smooth hardwood grips retained by screws. Birdshead pommel. Unmarked steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains 50% original worn thinning blue. Blade has been sharpened. Balance of metal turning patina w/ light oxidation. Grips well worn w/ tiny cracks around attaching screws. Scabbard turning overall gray w/ oxidation & fine pitting. Scabbard is slightly bent w/ scattered sm. dents. 2) 15 5/8" fullered blade. Right ricasso has Nagoya Arsenal marking. Birdshead pommel. Smooth hardwood grips. Steel scabbard w/ rubberized canvas frog. CONDITION: sharpened blade has been polished but now has oxidation & pitting. Balance of metal is gray w/ light oxidation. Grips are well worn w/ loss of wood at edges & notable sm. cracks plus chipping at the attaching screws. Scabbard is overall gray w/ oxidation & light pitting. Rubberized canvas frog is stiffened from age w/ delamination & extensive blued repair. Leather retaining strap is incomplete & partly detached. 3) 15 5/8" fullered blade marked on right ricasso w/ a Kokura Arsenal and private contractor's marks indicating production under supervision of Kokura Arsenal. Smooth late production hardwood grips fastened by rivets. Late type birdshead pommel. Unmarked steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade has traces of original blue w/ thinning, heavy wear & scattered areas of oxidation. Balance of metal is patina w/ oxidation & fine pitting. Grips have wear & staining. Notable crack & chipping on right grip. Scabbard has traces of blue w/ oxidation & moderate pitting throughout. 4) 15 3/4" fullered blade marked on right ricasso has Kokura Arsenal circles & "M" w/ arrow indicating production by National Denki Company under Kokura Arsenal supervision. Late type smooth hardwood grips fastened by rivets & late type flat sided birdshead pommel. Unmarked steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains 60% thinning original blue finish. Balance of metal has traces of blue turning patina w/ moderate wear. Grips have light wear & staining. Scabbard has 50% arsenal rework blue w/ flaking & wear. Scabbard is notably dented & has a moderate bend. (02-19611-7/RW). $200-400.
