GROUPING OF SEVEN WWI PATRIOTIC POSTERS.

These posters have great visual impact in their appeal to the hearts of the public.
1) Italian patriotic poster showing a posed general names Armando Diaz, Supreme Commander of the Italian Army. The polychrome picture shows the general holding a rolled map in a dramatic pose w/ a background of mountains & showing attacking infantry, heavy artillery w/ air craft over head. All markings are in Italian. The poster is signed at the top left corner, "G. Piattoi" & Firndze". Poster is matted in wooden commercial frame measuring approx 13" W X 17"L. CONDITION: poster has good appearance but spots of light staining throughout; most notable in the margin areas. Frame has worn finish & notably open corners.
2) Poster entitled "Food for France" showing a French girl feeding soup to a wound French Pouliu. Signed in the lower left corner "F. Luis Mora". Marked in right corner; "THE W. F. POWERS CO. LITHO, N.Y.". Poster has yellow background, red lettering. The figures appear to be a charcoal drawing except the blue uniform & red soldier's cap. Mounted in a blue colored professional frame measuring 20 1/2" W X 30 1/2" L. CONDITION: poster in very good condition but w/ scattered spots of staining & sm. tear in lower left corner.
3) An interesting poster from the National Catholic War Counsel / Knights of Columbus showing in a polychrome format an elderly man in a K of C uniform assisting a soldier walking toward the front lines w/ stylized shell bursts. The legend "SEE HIM THROUGH" & "HELP US TO HELP THE BOYS". Also carrying the National Catholic War Council" logo & additionally marked at bottom "United War Work Campaign - Week of November 11-1918". Signed by Burton Rice. Marked at bottom center "AMERICAN LITHOGRAPHIC CO. N.Y.". The poster is mounted in a professional silver colored frame w/ glass front & measures approx. 20 1/2" W X 30 1/2" L. CONDITION: poster has staining in margin areas w/ sm. spots of mildew & folded lower edge.
4) Heart rending mono chrome poster by the UNITED STATES FOOD ADMINISTRATION entitled "WAR RAGES IN FRANCE" showing a rendering of French refugees of all ages in the shell ruins of a town as they flee to safety. The slogan is "WE MUST FEED THEM". "They can not fight & raise food at the same time / Denying ourselves only a little means Life to them." This poster by Townsend is not marked as to the printing company. Mounted in the silver colored professional frame which measures 20 1/2"W X 30"L. CONDITION: poster is very good condition & legible. Balance of poster has foxing & light stains w/ scattered edge wear.
5) Polychrome image of young child installing a red cross service flag in the window of home underneath a Christmas wreath. The colorful view is dated 1918 & the entitled, "Have You a Red Cross Service Flag?" The artist is Jesse Willcox Smith. Poster is marked in the bottom left "Copyright, The American Red Cross" & marked in the bottom right "Forbes, Boston". Poster is mounted in professional silver frame measuring 20 1/2W X 21 1/2" L. CONDITION: poster in very good condition w/ very light edge wear.
6) "United States Treasure Department' poster promoting the sale of war saving stamps. The poster shows a nude child standing w/ the Statue of Liberty hand w/ torch on a blue background; Poster is titled "Save your Child" / From autocracy / and poverty." and exhorts the public to "Buy War Savings Stamps". It includes the "boxed W.S.S." logo. Mounted in a 19"W X 29 1/2" L silver colored professional frame. CONDITION: glass front has long nearly full length diagonal crack. Poster has light wear and a few sm. tears.
7) 3rd. Liberty Loan polychrome poster showing a blond female child holding a bond coupon w/ the maturity date 1932 visible. The poster is entitled "My Daddy Bought Me a Government Bond / of the / THIRD LIBERTY LOAN / Did yours?" Marked in lower right corner in oval "The UNITED STATES & Printing Lithograph Co. New York.". Poster has professional silver colored metal frame measuring approx. 20"W X30 1/2"L. CONDITION: poster has several sm. tears at the edge w/ foxing & scattered areas of staining.
