Cal. 45 ACP. NSN. Bbl. 4". Mfg. 1942 as secret project by Guide Lamp division of General Motors in conjunction w/ US Gov't. to assist resistance movement of our European allies. Packaged in paraffin coated cardboard box having spacer plus separate box of 10 rds. 45 ACP ammo; head stamped FA42 (Frankford Arsenal). Included cartoon like instructions & wooden dowel to use as ejector. Approx. 1 million mfg. in 10-11 weeks; could be mfg. faster than it could be loaded. Very limited use in Europe; most found their way to Asia. Smooth bore seamless tubing combined w/ simple welded stampings & cast alloy striker assembly. Front sight an extension of trigger guard; rear sight notch in breech plate. CONDITION: good overall brown patina appearance. Fully functional w/ breech plate evidencing noticeable use.
