Cal. 45 ACP. NSN. Bbl. 4" smooth bore specifically exempt by ATFE from NFA regulations. Mfg. 1942 only by Guide Lamp division of General Motors; 1 million units at just over $2 each. Intended to be dropped behind enemy lines for resistance use. Originally packaged in wax sealed cardboard box containing 10 rds. of ammo, wooden dowel ejector rod & cartoon style instructions showing dispatch of enemy & obtaining their firearm. Intended for European use yet most made their way to Phillipines & China. Seamless tubing bbl. & stamped metal parts riveted & spot welded together. Alloy striker assembly containing firing pin & guide pin. Vertical moving metal gate functions as breech block. Pulling striker slightly to rear readies pistol for trigger function that further moves striker to rear before releasing. Bottom of grip has sliding metal cover over compartment to store cartridges. Amazing artifact of WWII that was created secretly in a matter of a very few months. CONDITION: although plain, unfinished & by most standards unattractive, it is in remarkable condition compared to most offerings. Near excellent bore & unfired appearance. (22-357/NW).
