RIFLE BY PAUL JAEGER. Cal. .338 Win. Mag. S# 63141. Bbl. 24". Jim had this rifle built by Paul Jaeger for a month long safari to Mozambique in 1972. It is fitted w/ 24" Douglas medium weight sporter bbl. A steel detachable hinged floorplate w/ release button in trigger guard bow was installed & rifle was stocked in French walnut in Jaeger's classic style. According to Jim "in August 1972, this rifle accounted for 29 head of game for 30 rds. expended. A cape buffalo was given a "safety shot" to ensure the animal was indeed dead." Jim also further states that the rifle was refinished later by Gary Stiles & fitted w/ a front sight ramp & a Redfield flip up auxiliary rear sight. Metal parts are black teflon coated. Rifle is fitted w/ Leupold Vari-X III 1.5x5 scope w/ crosshair & dot reticle in Redfield rings & bases. A Pilkington QD lever was fitted to rear base. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: included w/ rifle is orange Conico storage container w/ RCBS dies, some fired cases, & a large variety of .338 caliber bullets, including 2 open boxes of 200 grain spire point bullets by Hornady, 2 boxes of full metal jacket by Hornady, 5 boxes of 250 grain Nosler Spitzers, 1 box & a partial of Nosler 250 grain rnd. nose, a box of Barnes 225 grain "X" bullets, & 2 boxes of Barnes 300 grain rnd. nose full metal jacket. Also included is a typed description by James Fender. CONDITION: very fine as refinished. Metal parts have only a few minor scratches in their teflon coating, mostly on floorplate. There are only 1 or 2 minor marks in stock finish. Bore is excellent. Scope is very fine, optically clear. (20-2399/MGM65). MODERN. $1,500-2,500.
