German Army Model 1935 Officer's Dagger with Scabbard and Silver Portepee Cord by WKC of Solingen. The 10.25" double edged, flat center blade with spear point is etched "(Knight's Head)/WKC/SOLINGEN". Overall length is 14.75". Handle features a nickel silver plated crossguard with forward rolled quillons, embossed with an eagle holding a rotating swastika inside an oak leaf wreath. The steel ferrule and nickel silver pommel cap are decorated with oak leaves and small acorns. The orange celluloid grip is made in a raised rounded style with a descending spiral design. Condition is very good; blade retains its original cross grain finish. There are two rub marks to the inside flat edge and very fine vertical scratches to both sides. The edges are excellent and the point is very slightly bent to the left. Leather buffer pad is missing. Most of the silver finish is worn off the crossguard and pommel cap, with only traces remaining. Grip has toned to a dark orange color; there is a small, closed crack below the pommel, and scattered very small handling marks. Cap fits tightly to the tang but the grip and crossguard fit a little loosely. Steel scabbard with a pebbled finish on the body with oak leaf decorated bands and loose retaining rings. Condition is good showing wear, cleaned areas, patina to both edges, and no dents. The aluminum portepee cord is in very good condition, with mild flattening to the acorn and loose threads on the slide. Est.: $600-800.
