German Model 1871 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, with bayonet and scabbard, #6170, 11x60mm cal., 33.56'' barrel, bright finish, hardwood stock, inverted ''V'' front sight with three-leaf folding rear sight. Marked on top chamber flat ''(crown)/AMBERG'', and on left side flat ''11''. ''I.G.Mod:71.'' is marked on left side receiver, ''1877'' (stamped twice) is marked on right side. Inspection stamps faintly visible on buttstock. Matching numbers. With cleaning rod. Regimentally marked on buttplate ''B.1.R.6.25.'' Condition overall is very good with receiver mostly bright and barrel toned to a darker color, and an area of old rust on the buttplate. Stock has been sanded and refinished possibly with linseed oil. Wood shows darkening at the forend and butt with old handling marks and light scratches. Action is smooth, bright bore is very good. The Model 1871 bayonet has a 18.5'' blade and is 23.6'' overall with a correct grooved right side brass grip and a smooth left side grip. The ''S''-shaped steel crossguard has an old lined-out serial number stamped on it. Left side ricasso is stamped ''WERTH SOLINGEN''(faintly on left side), with the top edge of the blade stamped ''(crown)/W 75'' and ''(crown)/A''. Small inspection stamps on left side of brass grip at pommel. Condition of bayonet is very good with the blade showing patina and old sharpening with a couple of small nicks to the edge. Crossguard has patina on left side while the brass grips and lock have been polished and show handling marks, and the mounting bar slot has minor battering. Lock works smoothly. Scabbard is in good condition with the black leather dried showing a couple of small holes and overall scuffing. Locket throat is loose and the chape has several dents. Includes a new condition reproduction black leather frog. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
