H&R REISING SMG.
Cal. 45 ACP. S# 6695. Bbl. 13.75" over brake. Designed just prior to WWII, the Reising SMG & its variations would be mfg. in numbers upwards of 100,000 by 1945. W/ a primary customer of the USMC they would be eventually found in both military & commercial applications & as far away as Soviet Russia. Being a little ahead of its time, it was mfg. to fire in a closed bolt configuration which would later become common because of its numerous advantages. Though it never received accolades for it, it had potential to be extremely accurate due to its advanced fire control group & locking bolt mechanism. While feeding devices are commonly available in multiple capacities, the Reising was unusual in that the mag. well determined the capacity, available in both 12 rd. & 20 rd. configuration. This example utilizes a 20 rd. mag-well. It was a select fire system, allowing the operator to choose between semi-auto & full-auto. Semi finned bbl. section approx. 5.5" in length w/29 fins & hardwood stock & a slotted muzzle brake. Front sight is drift adj. blade & rear sight is an elevation adj. peep. Charging or cocking is accomplished utilizing a recessed handle below the bbl. Metal buttplate. Markings on top of receiver include “MODEL 50-H&R REISING-CAL. 45 / HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO. / WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A. Pat. Pending”. Safety/Selector markings include “SAFE - S.A. F.A.”. CONDITION: original blued finish is complete & thorough on all exposed parts. Blued finish on muzzle brake exhibits a gentle thinning typically associated w/ rack wear. Stock appears free of any major defects. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. Clean bore w/ very well pronounced rifling. All outward aspects point to this gun having seen very little use & receiving proper care & storing. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1496/JZ). CURIO CLASS III. $6,500-8,500.
