Cal. 5.56x45. S# 48-005017. Bbl. 16 1/4" over muzzle device. Extremely desirable semi auto version of the German G36K battle rifle. The G36 (Gewehr 36) was developed by Heckler & Koch in the early 1990"s to replace the iconic G3. It found its way into service in 1997 & w/in a year had already been adopted by other nations, including Spain where it was intended to replace the CETME L. The G36 was originally available in 3 standard configurations. This example was offered w/ a 12.79" bbl. & incorporates a blind pinned STS 4 prong muzzle thumping device marked on left side w/ front facing arrow & "INSTRUCTIONS, FACE STAB" in white filled engraved letters bringing overall length to 16 1/4". Since the import of full autos has been heavily restricted since 1968, this specific example is a semi auto custom built Tom Bostick conversion utilizing a civilian legal SL8 & a factory G36 parts kit. Emulating the original in every way (other than the fire control group) it is a rotating bolt, gas operated self loading rifle w/ correct markings & attributes. The unique sight bridge functions as a carry handle & houses an integral 3.5x sight. It also utilizes the factory 3 dot open sights above the optic for extremely fast target acquisition, especially at close range. The right side folding skeletonized buttstock locks in a tight & positive manner in both open & closed position. Like the familiar prior G3 family of firearms, the G36 can be field stripped w/out tools using their familiar push pin system. It utilizes a completely ambidextrous charging handle that is located on top of the receiver below the sight bridge. It includes 3 sections of picatinny rail offering almost 17" of combined accessory mounting surface. The paddle mag. release is also ambidextrous & can be engaged w/ the trigger finger w/out relaxing the control hand. Ambidextrous bolt hold open device located forward of trigger inside trigger guard. Ambidextrous pictogram safety selector. Markings on left side of receiver "HK G36K / Kal. 5.56mmx45 / KK / Heckler & Koch / Made in Germany". Right side receiver markings include "Heckler & Koch GmbH / Made in Germany" & "Heckler & Koch inc. / Sterling VA". MAGS: 2 HK original 30 rd. polymers. CONDITION: black enamel finish on exposed metal surfaces w/ only noticeable wear in areas of mechanical interface & on high surfaces of picatinny rail. Also wear in bbl. at rear of flash hider. Shiny bore w/ strong rifling. Synthetic surfaces are like new. Fire control group appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (20-366/JZ). MODERN. $2,500-3,500.
