SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL MANUFACTURED BY LOEWE, STOCKS BY STEVEN HEILMANN, ENGRAVED BY LEE GRIFFITHS. Cal. 7.65 Borchardt. S# 176. Classic C93 Borchardt pistol, strikingly embellished with superbly rendered gold & silver inlay accented scrolls on barrel & top of action with "WAFFENFABRIK LOEWE BERLIN" & "D.R.P. No. 75837" in gold as well. This fine gold & silver scroll melds into line borders on sides surrounding classic Germanic 19th century inspired scenes on rear of receiver; with bursts of acanthus scroll surrounding torso of spear wielding warriors, hunters, gargoyles on sides. Mainspring housing is inlaid with cornucopia & quivers of arrows. Grips & magazine bottom are of finely figured & veined Circassian walnut. They are superbly shaped & finished by master stock maker Steven Heilmann. The exceptionally fine engraving work is signed by the renowned Lee Griffiths & this pistol can be seen on Lee’s website leegriffithsengraving.com/handguns. Lee Griffiths of Utah Park, Utah is an internationally recognized award winning hand engraver. Lee started engraving with tools he fashioned from chunks of steel & a broken hammer in 1997. His passion for engraving & extraordinary artistic talent quickly led to recognition by the Firearms Engravers Guild of America (“FEGA”) as a Master Engraver in 1999. By 2002, Lee was teaching regular courses for engraving & artistic design. Lee’s work has continued to be praised by his peers. He has won the prestigious “Engravers Choice” award eight times at the FEGA Annual Exhibition (2007, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 ) along with over 30 “Best of Show” categories & awards of merit. Lee has also won gold medals at Concours d'Elegance of Fine Guns at the Vintage Cup, Millbrook, NY. Many of Lee’s guns are on display at the NRA Museum. CONDITION: exceptionally fine as custom finished. Metal parts retaining essentially all of satin rust blue. Grips & mag. bottom with nary a blemish in their fine oil finish. Bore is excellent.
