HIGH CONDITION 2ND MODEL MAYNARD SADDLERING BREECH

LOADING CARBINE. Cal. 50. S# 20448. The 20" bbls. w/ octagonal breech section has 2 leaf folding rear sight. Case hardened boxlock type action w/ Maynard patent dates on left & Mass Arms info on right has saddlering & bar on left side. Carbine made without tape priming system & has squared iron buttplate. Left side of stock at grip stamped w/ inspectors marks "AAN" & "JN". rear of bbl. stamped "N". CONDITION: very fine to excellent. Bbl. retaining over 90% original blue, darkened slightly. Action retains 90% case hardening color w/ some oxidation, mostly on sides on front. Stocks retain nearly all of their original oil finish w/ a few scattered marks. Inspector marks are still sharp & clear. Bore is bright & shiny. Mechanically good. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Kenneth Horn (Grandson of JC Higgins). (01-20640/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,500.
