HIGH CONDITION DUTCH CONTRACT MODEL 1941 JOHNSON

SEMI AUTO RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 4749. Standard configuration. The 22 3/4" bbl. with correct front sight and bayonet lug stamped "J.A 30-06" on barrel shank and with number "6016N". Matching number is on barrel ring lug. Action with Johnson Automatic's Model of 1941 nomenclature and patent dates on top has "Cranston Arms" in inverted triangle at right rear with Dutch acceptance star stamp above. Bolt is numbered 7366 (no care was taken to match numbers in the Johnson factory). Rifle fitted with unmodified peep rear sight, spring has not been reinforced. Forestock is complete with cross pin. Unlaminated buttstock has checkered steel buttplate and military type sling loop. An unmarked brown leather sling is attached. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: canvas muzzle protector marked "EA BROWN MFG. CO. 1944". CONDITION: exceptionally fine as partially refinished. Metal parts retaining over 90% original parkerized finish with high edge wear and silvering on rear of rotary magazine. Stocks show an old oil refinish over some marks, dings and small repaired crack in front of trigger guard retaining screw on left side. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling throughout. Breech face shows evidence of very little firing. A very fine 1941 Johnson. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Charles P. Obremski. (22-1310/MGM). CURIO. $5,000-9,000.
