HAMMER UNDERLEVER CAPE GUN. Cal. 24 Ga. / unknown rifle (.488" groove diameter straight case .650" rim diameter). NSN. The 27" bbls. have 1 standing 1 folding leaf rear & silver bead front sights dovetailed through full length matted rib w/ doll's head extension. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ German black powder proofs for 24 Ga. & unknown rifle. A crowned "V" proof indicating firearms in stock in 1891 (inception of proof laws) is on each bbl. & action. A sling loop is soldered to bottom rib. Case hardened rnd. bodied Jones underlever action is fitted w/ backspring peninsula locks having short serpentine hammers. Action & locks are line border engraved. Trigger plate is engraved w/ possible maker's name "H. Roth". Rifle trigger is set. Well crotch figured European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 13 7/8" over checkered horn buttplate. Stock features shadowline right hand cheekpiece, point pattern checkering on diamond grip & a sling loop on toeline. Matching splinter forend is near fully checkered & has forward pivoting lever release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: .590". Restriction: .050" (EXTRA FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: .040". STOCK: DAH: approx. 3". DAC: approx. 1 11/16". LOP: 13 7/8" CAST: approx. 3/4" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 14 oz. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Bbls. retaining over 90% original blue w/ a few scattered marks, faded somewhat on rib at rear. Action & locks retain over 90% original case hardening color w/ some fading under streaks of original lacquer which remains at about 80%. Triggers are bright polished.
