HIGH CONDITION GWYN & CAMPBELL TYPE II CARBINE.

Cal. 52. S# 2857. 20" Rnd. bbl. w/ 3 1/2" octagon breech section holding short base ladder rear sight screws into case hardened frame. Frame has temper blued tilting block which lifts & slides forward through the action of a curled lever which also forms trigger guard. Tail of this lever is held in place by pivoting latch at rear of trigger plate. A saddle ring & bar are on left side of action. Right side is stamped "UNION" "RIFLE" at front. Case hardened lock plate is marked w/ makers name & address at center. Walnut buttstock w/ browned buttplate has swan necked grip. Inspectors initials "RKW" & "WHR" are on left side of stock behind action. CONDITION: extremely fine, appears unfired. Bbl. retaining approx. 80% original blue turning to brown w/ some high edge wear & minor flecking. Action & lock retain over 60% original case hardening color, most loss is on tail of lock plate & operating lever. Breechblock & top strap retain most of their bright temper blue. Most loss on top strap which has flaked to brown through grip. Stocks retain nearly all of their oil finish w/ a few marks & gouges. Inspectors marks sharp & clear. Bore is bright & shiny.
