EJECTOR GAME GUN BY JOHN DICKSON & SON WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2". S# 18017. The 27" dovetailed bbls. are silver inlaid "FOR 2 INCH CASE ONLY" on plain Churchill rib. Tops of bbls. engraved "J. Dickson & Son" "Incorporating Mortimer & Son. Edinburgh." Bbl. flats stamped w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2" chambers & 1 1/8 oz. of shot. Loop stamped w/ actual maker's number "89233". Case hardened boxlock action features automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action engraved w/ about 50% coverage sprays of scroll within line & scroll borders. "J. Dickson & Son" are on scroll terminated riband on each side. Blued top lever floor plate, trigger plate & trigger guard are engraved w/ matching scroll, S# is on trigger guard tang. Well fiddle figured & lightly streaked European walut straight grip buttstock measures 14" over checkered wood butt. Flat top point pattern checkering is at grip & a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Short matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .732", left: .734". Restriction: right: .017" (LIGHT MOD), left: .027" (I MOD). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .021", left: 020" (both along top near rib). STOCK: DAH: 2 3/16". DAC: 1 & 1/2". LOP: 14". CAST: 0. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 5 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun housed in what appears to be its original tan canvas case w/ leather trim. Top is embossed "M. S. Mc. C.". Interior lined in light green cloth & has John Dixon 21 Frederick's street Lion Label in lid. CONDITION: fine, appears to be original & unaltered. Bbls. retaining approx. 80% original blue w/ silvering on sharp edges & thinning overall. Action retains approx. 80% of its original case hardening color, silvering on bottom from normal hand wear. Top lever & floorplate are silvered on sharp edges. Blue on trigger guard is at about 30%, flaking on bow & w/ wear at grip. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original oil finish w/ a fair scattering of light marks overall. Checkering is lightly worn. Bores are bright & shiny w/ no evidence of repairs or problems. Action is tight, bbls. on face. Ejectors are slightly out of time. Exterior of case shows some light stains. Leather trim considerably deteriorated. Straps are missing. Handle is good. Interior cloth shows marking from oil cloth & some areas are worn through & show considerable soiling.
