GEBRUDER REMPT RETAILED BY LADISLAV SVESTKA OF PRAGUE. Cal. 16 Ga. S# 33062. Bbls. 27 1/2" Demi-bloc engraved w/ retailers name & "PRAHA" (Prague) on matted full length solid rib. Steel type is on top left of bbl. Bottom bbl. marked 'Remo" trade name of the Rempt Brothers of Suhl, most famous for their post WWI conversions of Gew 98 Mauser rifles to shotguns. Left sides of bbls. stamped w/ July 1931 German nitro proofs. Blitz OU scallop backed action features square dbl. Kersten bolt, automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action is nicely filed but devoid of engraving except for some matting on top & decoration to screw heads along w/ "Remo" on trigger plate. Plain European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 7/8" over tan leather covered pad & features right hand shadow line cheekpiece, side panels & point pattern checkering at grip. Matching 3 piece forend has Deeley release. Bore diameter: top - .670, restriction .032 (full), bottom - .670, restriction: .010 (light mod). Minimum wall thickness: top - .033, bottom - .036. DAH: 2 15/16". DAC: 1 1/2". WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 10 oz. CONDITION: fine to very fine. Bbls. retain over 96% original blue. Action has about 80% original blue, silvered on sharp edges & considerably at sides around bottom. Wood retains most of a very light older oil refinish w/ some scattered marks. Leather covered pad is relatively new & a bit rough. Bores appear to be very fine, although dirty. Action is tight. A well made gun. (20-391/MGM58). CURIO. 800-1,200.
