CARBINE. Cal. 30 Carb. S# 2485570. Bbl. 18". Marked behind front sight "UNDERWOOD"/"12-43"/"flaming bomb". Flip type aperture rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears marked ".U.". Unmarked narrow barrel band with stamped swivel. Straight cut slide marked "UN". Receiver bevel has "W" indicating manufacture by the subcontractor "Universal Winding Co. Flat bolt marked ".U.". Trigger guard has ".U." inside rear of mag. well. Push button safety. Mag. catch is "AU". Straight cut hammer is "AU". Low wood oval cut walnut stock is marked "PU" in sling slot. Crisp acceptance mark on the right side of butt. Boxed "GHD UEF" & "crossed cannons". "16" rack # at end of grip. Two rivet handguard marked "P-U". MAGS: 1-15 rd. Blued steel. Marked "U". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: "U.S." marked green canvas 2 pocket mag. pouch. Marked on back "HOFF 1943". CONDITION: This carbine appears to have seen a small amount of careful service use. The original finish stock set has light wear and small scattered handling marks. The metal retains most of its original lightly worn, Parkerized finish w/ a slight mix of shadings. The receiver has a notable dark hue. Very good shiny bore w/ sharp lands. (24-2054/RW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
