HIGH GRADE FOREIGN MEDAL GROUPING.
1) MILITARY & HOSPITALLER ORDER OF SAINT LAZARUS OF JERUSALEM. A stunning breast star in gold plated metal w/ white, light green & dark green enamel. 3 Piece riveted construction w/ pin back & 2 slide mts. 8 Pointed star base measures approximately 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". Original green box w/ gold embossing measures 4 1/4" square. Box is marked in part, “TOYE, KENNING & SPENCER LTD LONDON”. CONDITION: enamel has a few minute lines at the white tip of one star, but there are no losses. Box shows rubbing on the edges. 2) ORDER OF THE CROWN OF ROMANIA. An officer’s grade medal w/ a gilded finish featuring red & white enamel. The front center has a crown w/ the words, “PRIN NOI ANSINE * 14.MARTIE 1881 *”. The rear center reads, “10 MAIU” surrounded by “1866 * 1877 * 1881 *”. Blue ribbon bordered by silvered stripes w/ a central ribbon rosette. Original black case is embossed w/ a crown over opposing “C”s w/ an “I” in the center. Interior of the box is marked “Joseph Resch Fils Bucarest”. CONDITION: there is some minor white enamel loss at the edges of the interior medallion. Box shows minor scuffing. 3) ORDER OF ST. MAURICE & ST. LAZARUS. A beautiful example by Gardino of Rome of this scarce medal. Medal features emerald green & white enamel w/ a green ribbon. Original bark blue case is gold embossed w/ a crowned “VE”. Interior of case is marked, “GIOIELLERIA Cravanrola Succ. GARDINO V. DEL CORSO, 341 ROMA”. Case is missing the miniature medal & lapel pin. CONDITION: medal shows no damage, case has the lightest of wear. 4) ORDER OF THE CROWN OF ITALY. A fine gold grade medal instituted in 1868. Medal is possibly 18k gold w/ red, white, blue, green & black enamel. Medal measures approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" w. red & white ribbon & central rosette. Medal is housed in its original red leather, gold embossed box featuring a crowned “U” on the front. Interior of the box is marked in part, “Deo, Cravanrola SUCCESSORE FRATELLI BORANI…ROMA”. CONDITION: enamel is undamaged. Ribbon is slightly worn. Box has expected scuffing. 5) MEDAL FOR THE 40TH JUBILEE OF CAROL I OF ROMANIA. Bronze colored medal w/ neck up profile view of Carol I of Romania. Reverse shows Romanian arms w/ the dates 1866 & 1906. Red ribbon w/ yellow border & central blue, white & black stripe. Pendant measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". CONDITION: very light wear overall. (02-14034/BF). $500-800.
