HIGH GRADE SLIDING BREECH FRENCH SHOTGUN BY

CHARLIN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 1/2". S# 21589. The 26 5/8" bbls. fitted w/ narrow swamped matted rib are dovetailed, not monobloced as are most Darnes. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ French nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers & w/ "CHARLIN AUTOMATIQUE". The sliding breech action is similar to that found on a Darne, but is generally much smoother in operation & does not feature obturating discs to center breech to bbls. Instead uses an outer collar which fits around breech ends, giving superb lateral & vertical strength. Opening lever is deeply stamped "CHARLIN". Action is very nicely engraved w/ scenes of dogs & game on sides within line borders & floral accents. Fences are very finely carved in deep relief acanthus. Bbl. removal button is in bottom of trigger plate. Toggling safety is on left side. Rnd. knob buttstock of dark & very well marbled lightly figured European walnut measures 14 1/2" over ribbed horn buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. A sling loop matching that screwed to bottom rib is on toeline. Matching forend screws directly to water table extension. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .723", L .723".
