HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION EARLY 1950S VICTOR

SARASQUETA MODEL No. 8 SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAMEGUN WITH TWO BARREL SETS. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4" S# 78075. Both sets of 29 3/4" chopperlump bbls. fitted with slightly raised matted game ribs are marked "Victor Sarasqueta" "Eibar Espania" on tops. There are 1 1/2" triangles of scroll engraving at breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped with both 1942 & 1951 Spanish Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers (most likely this gun was started in 1942 and not finished until after WWII). Rear lumps are numbered "1" and "2". Case hardened sidelock action features automatic safety, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers (front articulated). Action is nicely filed and engraved with near full coverage well cut varying size shaded scroll. On usual Model 8 guns, this scroll surrounds rose bouquets. On this particular gun the bouquets have been substituted for game and dog scenes with left lockplate depicting a pair of pointers at rear and sitting partridge toward front. Right lock depicts two pointers and a setter pointing a flushing partridge. Bottom of action has scene of running stag and a nesting partridge is on trigger plate. The partridge theme continues onto fences. Where small bouquets normally appear on ends of bbls., this area is engraved with the faces of dogs. Blued trigger guard and top lever are engraved with matching scroll. Top lever also depicts a flying partridge. Straight grip buttstock of very nicely marbled European walnut measures 15" over "Bison" open sided pad. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip. and early style Sarasqueta type drop points are behind lockplates. Matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release services both bbl. sets.
