NEW ITHACA DOUBLE. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 448116. Bbl. 28" fitted w/ matted rib & are unmarked on exterior. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ S# & grade number. Bottoms of bbls. are marked “BEST FLUID STEEL”. Bottom of lump has "NITRO POWDER" proof mark. Case hardened NID action is fitted w/ Miller type single selective trigger w/ selector combined w/ safety slide & also features usual rotary bolting system & pin type cocking indicators. Action is engraved in usual late Grade 3 style w/ sprays of lg. shaded scroll w/ in line borders offsetting bird scenes w/ snipe on left & quail on right sides under Ithaca company name & address. Bottom of action has circular scene of flying duck. Blued triggerguard w/ scroll on bow has S# on tang. Lightly crotch figured American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/2" over open sided "Hawkins" pad. Point pattern checkering w/ fancy back is at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend w/ inlet ebony tip has Deeley type release as usually found on early NIDs. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIA.: Left .729. Right .729. BORE RESTRICTIONS: Left .028 Mod. Right .026. WALL THICKNESS: Left .029. Right .030. DAC: 1 5/8"+. DAH: 3 1/16". WEIGHT: 7 lbs 10 oz. CONDITION: extremely fine, bbls. retaining approx. 90% original blue, thinning above forend w/ some scattered light marks & scratches. There is slight silvering at breech ends & along rib. Action retains approx. 60% original case hardening color worn to silver & gray around bottom from normal handling. Triggerguard retains about 70% of its original blue, the same can be said for forend latch. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their original finish, but are most likely a later refinish w/ only a few minor marks. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically fine.
