EJECTOR DOUBLE TRIGGER GAME GUN WITH CASE & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". S# 18642. (CA 1945). The 28" chopper lump barrels fitted with narrow swamped game rib are engraved "Steven Grant & Sons." "7 Bury Street, St. James's, London, England" on tops. Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers (2 5/8" is actual measure). Bottoms of barrels are stamped with S#'s. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences and is nicely filed, fences having classic Steven Grant ellipses. Action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), bushed strikers and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with near full coverage, well cut scroll within small scroll borders. "Steven Grant & Sons" is on each lockplate. Blued top lever and trigger guard are engraved to match. S# is on short trigger guard tang. Very attractive straight grip buttstock of finely fiddle figured and well marbled European walnut measures 15" over checkered wood butt and features drop points, well cut flat top checkering with mullered borders at grip and gold oval on toeline engraved "NEJ". Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .728". R .729. Restriction: L .019" (Mod). R .011" (IC). Wall thickness: L .027". R .028". STOCK: DAH: 2 1/16". DAC: 1 1/2". CAST: about 1/4" off. LOP: 15". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 10 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in what appears to be its original VC leather case with stitched leather corners. Top is embossed J.P.R.H. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth and has green leather gold embossed "Atkin, Grant & Lang" label in lid which has "7 Bury St" address. Case contains relatively new black nylon and brass cleaning rod with brush, mop and jag. "Grant & Lang" marked round oil bottle, snap caps and 2 keys. CONDITION: very fine, showing some very light refinishing of wood. Barrels retaining over 95% original blue with some light splotches and some scattered marks. Action retains about 60% case hardening color, lightly silvered on beads, fences and bottom. Lock plates retain nearly all of their original color. Top lever and trigger guard show light silvering. Stocks appear to have a very light oil refinish with sharp edges around locks and drop points slightly rounded. Checkering does not appear to be re cut. Bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems. Exterior shows reblued ding on right side of barrel about 8 1/2" in front of breech face. Action is tight, barrels are on face, ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather shows a good scattering of marks and rubs but is still fine, original straps and handle are good, interior cloth is fine with marks and rubs and is a bit dusty, label is very fine. A very fine gun that measures well. (22-5838/MGM). CURIO. $12,000-18,000.
