WITH 2 SETS OF BARRELS AND CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 26642 (1930). This high quality gun has 2 sets of dovetailed 30" bbls. with slightly raised game ribs. Tops are engraved "Galand F. BTE" "Importe de BELGIQUE". The numbers "1" and "2" are at breech ends. Bbl. flats are stamped with 1930 Belgian nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Bottoms of bbls. are marked with "Nickel Toledo" steel info. Serial numbers 26642 and 26643 are on bottoms of right bbls. Robust, coin finished sidelock action is stocked to the fences and features nonautomatic safety ("S" inlaid in gold), Purdey type third fastener, bushed strikers, slight reinforce to action and double triggers (front articulated). Action and locks are engraved with 80% coverage, simple scroll surrounding rose bouquets tied with ribbons. Fences are relief carved with scrolling acanthus and some flowers. Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Buttstock of feather figured and nicely marbled European walnut, has slight swan neck to grip line and measures 14 1/2" over thin red rifle pad. Stock features faceted drop points and point pattern checkering with line borders at grip. Matching long splinter ejector forend with Anson release, has central diamond inlaid with crowned gold crest inscribed "THE" "Pigeon Gun". A pigeon is engraved on central shield. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in what appears to be its original brown leather case outer with brown leather cover with dark brown leather trim lined w/ scarlet cloth. A new leather "Galand" label is in lid. Case has compartments for gun and both sets of bbls. CONDITION: very good as refinished. Both bbl. sets retain nearly all of a professional reblack. Rib matting is perished. Marks on bbls. have been reengraved. Action is repolished to coin finish. Engraving is somewhat thinned. Stocks retain nearly all of a good quality renewed oil finish, checkering competently recut. Bores are shiny over some very light frosting noted at breech ends of bbl. set #1. Action is tight. Bbl. set #1 is slightly off face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is somewhat oil soaked and has many marks and rubs. Newer straps and old handle are very good. Interior cloth is considerably soiled with considerable rubbing through from contact with action. Outer cover is good. (22-1153/MGM). CURIO. $2,500-4,000.
