HIGH QUALITY UNDERSTATED 8 BORE UNDERLEVER SHOTGUN

BY PATRICK MULLIN OF NEW YORK. Cal. 8 Bore. NSN. The Mullins, both Patrick & his brother John, were known for building very high quality firearms w/ imported actions & bbls. They are finished to a high degree, but are often essentially unadorned, only having engraving on screwheads, as is the case w/ this fine 8 bore hammer dbl. The 36 1/4" bbls. are of exceptionally fine 3 stripe Damascus & the unmatted concave top rib is engraved "P. Mullin, New York". Bbl. flats are unmarked, bottoms of bbls. are stamped w/ Birmingham black powder proofs for 10 bore. The case hardened Jones underlever action is fitted w/ high quality front spring locks w/ nonrebounding flat faced serpentine hammers w/ tall fingerspurs. Fences are very nicely filed. Action is exceptionally plain w/ only screwheads being engraved. Each lockplate is also engraved "P. Mullin". The dense dark European walnut straightgrip buttstock is lightly marbled & has some figure. It measures 13 3/4" over steel buttplate w/ short top tang. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a vacant silver shield is at top of grip. Matching splinter forend is near fully checkered & has inlet horn tip. It attaches to bbl. w/ Deeley type release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .815", L .817". Restriction: R .000" no recess (CYL), L .035" recessed (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .033", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/8". DAC: 1 3/4".
