BY J. ROBERTS & SON. Cal. 375 H&H Mag. J. Roberts S# 37513. H&H S# 2161. Holland & Holland records indicate this rifle was finished in 1951 and had a detachable stock. It presently has its original Holland & Holland 24" tapered round bbl. fitted with 1 standing 1 folding leaf express rear sight in sleeved on island base. Silver bead front sights in typical H&H style front ramp with folding sight protector. Bbl. is also fitted with partially sleeved on sling eye. Top center is engraved "J. Roberts & Son. London" in olde English script. Top rear of bbl. is engraved "HOLLAND'S 375 MAGNUM Rimless Cartridge" "HYKRO Steel". 2010 London Nitro proofs are on right side of bbl. shank. H&H serial number is on bottom. J. Roberts S# is stamped on bottom also. Standard length Model 98 Mauser action has top of receiver ring and bridge stipled. Right side is engraved with caliber. Right side is engraved "Made in England". A Thor commercial trigger has been installed. Bolt with classical H&H style downturned handle with outward turned checkered knob is engraved in Fraser style and has flag safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold. Alloy drop box bottom metal has steel floorplate retained by release button in bow. Floorplate is engraved with caliber and Roberts S# within Celtic knot borders. Newly made nondetachable steel capped pistol grip stock of lightly marbled and figured European walnut by J. Roberts measures 14 5/8" over Silver type pad and features lg. shadowline cheekpiece, recoil bolt and well cut flat top point pattern checkering at grip and around forend. A sling eye is on toeline along with a large silver oval engraved with coat of arms with motto "Persevere". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of Holland & Holland record, copy of Northwood Manufacturing report, and J. Roberts case label. CONDITION: fine as refinished metal parts retain over 90% blue with a few minor handling marks. Stock also has a few marks in its original hand rubbed oil finish. Bore is very fine, shiny with sharp rifling throughout. Mechanically fine. (22-5323/MGM). CURIO. $4,500-6,500.
