SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 24660. Bbl. 30". This gun was made a few years after the previous pair to form a trio. Dovetailed bbls. are engraved “HOLLAND & HOLLAND” & w/ 98 New Bond street address on tops. Swamped game rib is gold inlaid “3” on breech end. Same number is on top lever & forend latch. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ London nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. S#s are on bottoms of bbls. There are no grade markings. Case hardened sidelock Royal action is stocked to the fences & has nicely filed beads. Action is engraved w/ sprays of scroll in line borders. “Holland & Holland” is on each lockplate. Blued top lever & triggerguard are engraved to match. S# is on triggerguard bow. Somewhat fiddle figured & lightly marbled straight grip buttstock measures 13 7/8" over serrated horn buttplate & features drop points, point pattern checkering on diamond hand & a vacant silver oval on toeline. Matching AB ejector forend w/ shaped steel tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIAMETER: .730 left, .730 right. BORE RESTRICTIONS: .035 full left, .013 mod right. WALL THICKNESS: .028 left, .030 right. DAC: 1 5/8". DAH: 2 13/16”. Cast 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 9 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in its original oak & leather case w/ brass corners, a rectangular brass plaque is engraved “Gioacchino Del Balzo”. Interior is lined in scarlet cloth & has paper “Holland & Holland” label in lid. Case contains a bone striker bottle marked w/ this guns S# containing a pair of strikers, along w/ some cleaning equipment & bench cloths as well as yellow bags for bbls. & action. CONDITION: very fine, as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a best reblack. Engraving slightly softened. Action & lockplates retain over 90% original case hardening color. Top lever & triggerguard reblued w/ considerable softening of engraving. Stocks retain over 90% original hand rubbed oil finish w/ some scattered light marks. Checkering is lightly worn. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Bbls. on face. Ejectors are very slightly out of time. Case leather is darkened somewhat & has many marks & bumps. Straps & handle are good. Interior cloth is good to very good w/ soiling & rubs. Label is considerably foxed. Partitions are slightly loose but in place. (21-3950/MGM). MODERN. $8,000-12,000.
