Reproduction Deluxe Presentation Grade U.S. 1873 Springfield Single-Shot Officer's Model ''Trapdoor'' Rifle, by Harrington & Richardson, #LBH 4, .45-70 Gov't. CF cal., 26'' round barrel, bead-blade front sight is heavily floral engraved in 80% coverage, with gold bands at muzzle and breech, and silver presentation panels reading ''Act. Asst. Surgeon James M. DeWolf/Field Staff 7th U.S. Cavalry'' on right side, and ''Born Wyoming Co. Pa. 1843/Attached 7th Cav. Act. Asst. Surg. June 21, 1876'' on left; silver-finished receiver is matching floral engraved and marked with ser. no. on right side and ''US/Model/1873'' at blued trapdoor hinge; blued and engraved flat lockplate is marked ''(spread-wing eagle w/olive branches)/U.S./Springfield'' under latch, which is engraved and silver-finished as is the hammer; blued/silver finished and engraved steel mountings include two-piece trigger guard marked ''Killed June 25, 1876 Action With/Indians Little Big Horn River M.T.'' at rear tang, ''W.R.'' at front, and the 7th Cavalry Crossed Swords emblem on loop, case hardened curved buttplate marked ''US'' at top screw; all screw heads and butts are floral engraved; one-piece varnished highly-figured walnut halfstock is checkered at forend and wrists, has encircled ''P'' proof at belly, adjustable peep tang sight, engraved and silver-finished single spring-retained barrel band and nosecap, and metal-tipped hickory cleaning rod. Condition is as new, retaining 99.9% original finishes including bright silver, deep blue and fiery case hardening. Stock with sharp checkering, gorgeous flame-grain, color and full varnish.
