Reproduction U.S. 1873 Springfield Single-Shot Officer's Model ''Trapdoor'' Saddle Ring Carbine, with full silver-plated finish, by Harrington & Richardson, #SA24, .45-70 Gov't. CF cal., 22'' round barrel with tall blade front sight, marked with maker's name and address on right side, ''U.S. Model 1873/Cal. 45-70 Govt.'' and ''P'' on left; receiver is floral engraved and marked with ser. no. on right side, ''H&R'' on left, and ''US/Model/1873'' at trapdoor hinge; flat lockplate is marked ''(spread-wing eagle w/olive branches)/U.S./Springfield'' under latch, which is engraved as is the hammer; engraved steel mountings include two-piece trigger guard, separate checkered cast-metal pistol-grip, and curved buttplate marked ''US'' at top screw; one-piece varnished deluxe-grain walnut halfstock is checkered at forend and wrist, has an adjustable peep tang sight, left-side sling bar and ring, and single spring-retained barrel band. Condition is excellent, appearing near new. Metal surfaces retain approx. 99% lightly age-tarnished silver finish. Gloss-finish stock has a couple of light handling marks, sharp checkering, lovely grain and color. Action is smooth and crisp; bore is bright showing full plating and sharp rifling.
