HUNGARIAN M52 MOSIN NAGANT PU SNIPER RIFLE.

Cal. 7.62x54R. S# BC5905. Bbl 29". All matching numbers w/ bolt body being renumbered to match. Bolt body appears to be of Soviet mfg. other parts including cocking piece & bolt head are properly "02" marked. Top of bbl. marked w/ 1954 date, "02" for Hungarian FEG factory & serial number. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000m. Hooded post front sight. Soviet made PU sniper scope w/ Hungarian "02" marked mount. Post reticle w/ very good optics. Beech stock w/ circled "B" & "02" markings on right side of butt. Left side of butt has a handwritten name that appears to read "LCPL GARY D. BOOCKS 1846801". A cursory search reveals that Gary Boocks was indeed a Marine Veteran of Vietnam & fought at Khe Sanh. There are no visible import markings on this rifle & given the origin & date is very probable this rifle was indeed a Vietnam bring back. Pressed in sling slots w/ canvas sling. "02" Marked cleaning rod is present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: leather lens covers & Hungarian 91/30 bayonet numbered "CF5775". CONDITION: beech stock shows scattered dings & handling marks. Bolt assembly was cleaned at some point & shows some light pitting & oxidation staining. Balance of metal retains 70% arsenal blue w/ some scattered small areas of light pitting, fading & thinning. Good bore w/ some light frosting. (22-2494/MJC). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
