East German made single-shot falling block target rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle, and manufactured in Suhl, Germany. Produced in the "Town of Gunsmiths", The C.G. Haenel factory was founded in 1840 by Carl (Gottlieb) Haenel. By the 1920's, Haenel rifles set at least three World Records in small-bore target shooting. Rifle features a blued finish, an approximately 28-1/8" octagonal barrel, ramped blade front sight, fully adjustable Redfield aperture rear sight mounted to the left side of the receiver with an extension, original factory tang sight removed, curved gold-toned half checkered trigger, elegant checkered combination trigger guard and action lever, and a shell extractor. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, deep checkered forend (broken sling stud), right-hand cheek piece, checkered black plastic grip cap, and a black Pachmayr rubber recoil pad with white and black spacers. The original blued finish retained is approximately 94% with minor edge wear, light handling blemishes and the chamber area taking on a plum color. Metal displays slight deformation in some of the screw slots, and there is sparse oxidative speckling on the receiver. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Furniture wood is in very good condition with most of the handling blemishes on the forend, and strange circular dark spots on the right side of the shoulder stock.
Condition is NRA Good.
