Argentine semiautomatic pistol, marked 'EJERCITO ARGENTINA' (Argentine Army) on slide. Imported by CAI, St Albans, VT. Importer stamp on the bottom of the grip by the magazine well. Very similar to a Colt 1911 type pistol, uses same magazines & barrel, but most parts do not interchange. The 'Ballester-Molina' was manufactured between 1940 and 1953, until the company went out of business (the previous three years it was called Ballester-Rigaud). Solid ribbed arched backstrap with no grip safety. Features 5" barrel, small blade front sight, notch rear sight in dovetail, frame mounted thumb safety, push button mag release, single action trigger, serrated spur on hammer, lanyard loop on butt, serrated wooden grips. Frame, slide, and barrel numbered "36717". Bore is bright with good rifling. Retains 70% finish, with edge wear, scratches and small dings throughout. Small patina spots throughout, and a small dent on the plunger tube. Markings are crisp. Grips are very good condition with minor handling marks, one grip screw slot shows deformation. Includes (1) magazine. Argentine made, numbered "36717".
