Rifle with fancy inlaid stock showing alligator on left cheekpiece similar to Rezin Bowie rifle. 49" overall with 34'" octagon barrel of medium to slightly heavy weight. 40-42 calibre. The trigger guard is engraved with a flop-earred jack rabbit, also other inlays of squirrel, hunter and dog, stars, geometrics adn a fancy engraved plaque on bottom of side of forend with fancy buttplate, nose cap and furniture. The sights have been changed and moved further forward from owner aging and becoming near sighted. A small peep sight tap hole in the top and 3 tap holes for original rear sight in the barrel, 1 with a cross post remaining. No half - cock, but lock working and rifle is good to very good overall. Normal aging, minor pitting, small imperfections. Modern ramrod. An interesting rifle that Musso felt had an association with the southwest and circa about 1830-1850.
