Vintage American made single-shot break-barrel rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle, and manufactured in Plymouth, MI. C.J. The Hamilton & Son's Model Number 27 was designed to be a boys first rifle. This was the most popular rifle of the Hamilton line, and it was manufactured from 1907 to 1930 with over 500,00 produced. Rifle features a blued finish, an approximately 15" round barrel, fixed blade front sight, fixed 'V' notched rear sight, single-action hammer, checkered locking bolt, smooth curved trigger, and an external hammer with a checkered spur. The walnut furniture consists of a smooth straight gripped shoulder stock, smooth forend, and a smooth steel butt plate. Receiver is stamped on the left side reading, "THE HAMILTON RIFLE No 27 .22 CAL, PATENTED OCT.30.1900-AUG.13.1907, MFD. BY C.J. HAMILTON & SON, PLYMOUTH, MICH. U.S.A.". The original blued finish retained is approximately 93% with edge wear, handling blemishes, and the metal taking on a dark gray and brown patina. Metal displays some light areas of rust along the barrel and other areas. A small amount of deformation was observed in some of the screw slots, and the muzzle is flared a bit with the barrel sleave splitting. The action works smoothly with a good lock-up, and the bore is frosty with visible rifling. The furniture wood is in excellent condition with a screw missing from the rear of the trigger guard. This rifle is exempt from being a short barreled rifle.
Condition is NRA Fair.
