U.S. Harpers Ferry Model 1805 Flintlock Single Shot Pistol, NVSN, approx. .60 smoothbore cal. at muzzle, 10-1/16'' iron barrel marked ''P/V'' at breech, lower rib with integral ramrod ferrule, with plain hardwood ramrod. Lockplate with large, bold spread eagle behind shield holding olive branches over ''US'', ''Harpers/Ferry/1807'' in curved lines vertically behind flint cock. Brass curved sideplate, brass triggerguard with elongated rear tang, brass buttcap with elongated side tangs, brass rear ramrod ferrule, brass band at front of stock. Metal parts originally finished bright. Oil finished walnut stock with oval inspector's cartouche behind sideplate. Appears to be in original flintlock configuration, with black powder pitting at unbushed touchhole. Condition is fine showing clean bright iron, lightly toned brass and crisp markings. Stock is fine with sharp edges and only very minor marks. Action is tight and smooth; bore appears clean. Regarded as the most esthetically pleasing early American military flintlock pistol, and highly prized among collectors. Est.: $5,000-$7,000. (Antique)
