American made vintage single-shot break-open shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 16 Gauge shotshells, and manufactured in Worcester, MA. The Harrington & Richardson Model 48 Topper was in production circa 1943-1956. Shotgun features a blued finish with a color case-hardened receiver, a 30" round barrel, the fixed choke measures 'Modified' with a drop-in gauge, smooth curved trigger, external hammer with a serrated spur, serrated top lever, and a shell ejector. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth round knobbed shoulder stock, smooth forend, 14" length-of-pull, and a checkered black plastic factory butt plate. The original blued finish retained is approximately 94% with minor scratches and handling blemishes, and some thinning on the top of the barrel. The color case-hardened finish retained is approximately 90% with some fading of the brilliant colors, but the remaining has a tiger-stripe appearance. Metal displays no deformation, but there are a few small spots of rust along the barrel. The action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up, and the top lever rests slightly to the left of the tangs centerline. The bore is smooth and shiny. The furniture wood is near very good condition with minor handling marks, and some finish thinning mostly on the forend.
Condition is NRA Good.
