U.S Dept. of Interior 10 years of service presentation pistol. The G.380 is Hi Standard's only in-house produced centerfire pistol. It was developed during WWII for the O.S.S. which placed an order for them but subsequently cancelled due to the end of the war. Since Hi Standard had the tooling made, they manufactured 7,400 G.380 pistols between 1947 and 1950. The 5" 380ACP caliber barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun retains approx. 90% of its combination bright and matte blue finish with muzzle wear, handling/edge wear. The left side of the barrel at the chamber is marked CAL.380 AUTO. CTG. and the left side of the slide is marked HI STANDARD over MODEL G. 380. The left side of the forward frame is marked MADE IN U.S.A. over HIGH STANDARD MFG. CORP over NEW HAVEN, CONN over PATENT PENDING. The checkered black plastic grips are excellent with no cracks or chips. The original 6 shot magazine is present. The action functions correctly. The right side of the slide has a miniature Department of Interior badge, brass with white enamel with '10' & "Service". Comes with a very good condition brown leather vintage single loop holster. The back of the holster is marked " George Frazier 10 years Fed. Officer U.S.D.I. A very rare pistol. NRA Condition-Near Very Good. C&R Firearm.
