Howard Arms company was a trade name used by Sears, Roebuck and Company of Chicago, IL. Handguns were made by Meriden Fire Arms Company, a Sears subsidiary in the period 1905 to 1918. Features nickel finish, black gutta percha grips, 3" barrel, fixed sights, 5 shot cylinder, double/single action. Bore is fair condition, a bit dark, with fairly sharp edged rifling. Charge holes are brown with light surface rust. Retains 40% nickel, peeling and flaking, cylinder is mostly brown with light surface rust. Blued trigger guard, trigger & hammer are in fair to good condition, with fading blue turning a bit brown. Barrel and frame latch up tight, ejector star works sluggishly. Hammer does not stay cocked; trigger will operate in double action mode with fair lock-up of cylinder. Trigger does not return after firing. Cylinder spins freely with trigger at rest.
