ACCOUTREMENTS & PHOTOGRAPHS. This sm. archive has cartridge box w/ Bangor ME contractor w/ enlisted belt & buckle & Springfield bayonet & scabbard attached. There is a sm. pocket diary inscribed “LEWELLYN S. LIBBY / CO. E / 23RD MAINE REGT”. Folded in diary are several scraps of cloth, newspaper articles & 2 tin types of Lewellyn, both w/ his name scratches on back. Also included is a Dix 1863 dated patriotic token & 1855 dated brass buckle, sm. stencil “L.S.LIBBY”. There is a sm. powder horn w/ lg. initials “LL”. The back of the U.S. buckle also has lg. “LL” inscribed. CONDITION: cartridge box is complete w/ attached lead filled plate, makers mark is easily discerned. Belt is complete. Bayonet scabbard is complete, but near broken where attached to belt. Bayonet is very good w/ US surcharge. Photographs have bends & scratches, but have good contrast as can be seen in photos. The diary has few entries w/ no dates & no war information. (02-14171/JS). $600-700.
