IMPERIAL GERMAN REGIMENTAL STEIN FOR THE 168TH
HESSIAN INFANTRY REGIMENT. Stein measures 12 1/4" in height. The body of the stein reads “Reservist Walter.” & “4. Comp 5. Grossh. Hess. Inft. Regt. Nr 168. Butzbach. 1910-12” around the base. The top reads “Wer treu gedient hat seine Beit dem sei ein voller Krug geweiht.” The central portion includes vivid polychromatic scenes of an infantry unit in action with 1 standing soldier & 2 portraits. The base has a lithophane of a soldier saying goodbye to his wife. The elaborate pewter lid depicts a seated soldier holding his canteen in the air. CONDITION: light wear overall.
