IMPERIAL GERMAN REGIMENTAL STEIN FOR THE 1ST
INFANTRY REGIMENT. Stein measures 11 3/4" in height. The body of the stein reads “Kgl. bay. 1. Inf. Rgt,, Konig” 7. Comp. 1908/10 Munchen” around the top. The base reads “Jakob Widmann”. The central portion includes vivid polychromatic scenes of an infantry unit in action with a zeppelin above and 2 standing soldiers with 2 portraits. The base has a lithophane of a soldier saying goodbye to his crying wife. The elaborate pewter lid depicts a standing infantry soldier with a lion. CONDITION: light wear overall however, the soldier finial is missing the spike on his helmet. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18586/BF). $250-400.
