DRAGOON REGIMENT. Stein measures 12 1/4" in height. The body of the stein reads "2. Eskr. Drag. Rgt. Freib. v. Manteuffel Rhein. No 5. Hofgeismar. 1907 10" near the base. The top reads "Stok zu Ross die Cavallerie auf dem Posten spat und fruh. Bruder stost die Glaser an, hoch lebe der Reservemann." The central portion includes vivid polychromatic scenes of a dragoon saying goodbye to his wife, dragoons charging, dragoons reconnoitering, and firing dismounted. The base has a lithophane that shows a soldier saying farewell to his wife. Elaborate pewter domed lid has a charging dragoon finial. CONDITION: light wear overall. The lid is a bit loose and the finial is slightly bent. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18610/BF). $350-550.
